AHS International nurtures the next generation of leaders in vertical flight technology by sponsoring numerous scholarships and competitions, open to university and/or high school students around the world.
Every year, AHS International award Vertical Flight Foundation (VFF) scholarships to university students demonstrating an interest in pursuing engineering related careers in vertical flight technology. The Foundation scholarship awards are made possible solely by tax deductible donations that have been established and contribute to an endowment. The scholarships are solely merit-based and the value of scholarships range up to $6,000 (USD).
Please visit the VFF Application page for more details. The upcoming deadline for application submission is February 5, 2018!
The annual Student Design Competition challenges students to design a vertical lift aircraft that meets specified requirements, provides a practical exercise for engineering students at colleges and universities around the world and promotes student interest in vertical flight technology. Each of the winning teams is awarded a cash stipend, while each of the first-place winning teams are invited to AHS International’s Annual Forum and Technology Display to present the details of their designs. Members of the teams receive complimentary registration to the Forum, the vertical flight industry’s principal professional technical event, which promotes vertical flight technology advancement.
If interested, submit a Letter of Intent to Participate by February 5, 2018!
We also host an annual Micro Air Vehicle (MAV) Student Challenge, a practical exercise in MAV development for university and/or high school teams. This electric-powered vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) MAV competition awards prizes for both “form” and “function” of the MAV. Overall, teams showing superior system integration of vehicle flight systems, sensors and remote-operation-station are considered for final awards. Teams can receive multiple awards based on these aspects.
