The nature of the VFS STEM program is meant to be rotorcraft specific and to educate teachers and students on how to use helicopter and vertical lift technology as an instrument for generating interest in science and engineering and to demonstrate through rotorcraft examples that mathematics and science play an important role in designing, creating and improving vertical lift technology.

 

These tools and resources will assist educators and students interested and excited about vertical flight technology.

What is VTOL?

Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft can hover, take off, and land vertically - not an easy feat! Only helicopters, cyclocopters, tiltrotors, and special types of fixed-wing aircraft can do this.
