On Tuesday, September 17, the Arizona Chapter of the Vertical Flight Society supported the Arizona STEM and Innovation Summit at Scottsdale's Center for the Performing Arts, hosted by the Arizona Sci-Tech Institute. Teachers, school administrators, industry representatives, CSO (chief science officers) and student visited the Arizona Chapter booth and conducted productive conversations. Booth volunteers, staffed by Jo Anne Baker and Ron Alto of the Arizona Chapter, demonstrated the Apache GUI, (which is also used at the Arizona Science Center), as well as the rubber-band powered cardboard helicopter activity and the gyroscopic chair. Vertiflite magazines and VFS STEM flyers were handed out to participants, who learned about the mission and goals of the Vertical Flight Society. The VFS booth kept the attendees interested in vertical flight as the Q&A were inquisitive and interesting. The full day event included over 50 presenters and numerous displays, and about 150 to 200 visitors frequented the VFS STEM Booth.
