On Saturday, March 23, 2019, the Arizona Chapter supported the fourth annual Prescott Regional SciTechFest, held on the campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Approximately 600 students attended this STEM outreach event, which featured exhibits, interactive demonstrations, and presentations from local businesses, schools, and other public agencies. The Arizona Chapter booth, led by Ms. Jo Anne Baker, presented the Boeing Apache GUI software, gave a demonstration of gyroscopic precession with a bicycle wheel and rotating chair, and built 133 rubberband helicopters with participants to demonstrate the concept of vertical flight. Parents, pilots, university students and professors from Embry-Riddle also stopped by the booth to learn more about the Vertical Flight Society and its mission to advance VTOL technology and its application.
