During October, six VFS members from the East New England Chapter volunteered during several class periods at KIPP Academy in Lynn, MA to support their Space and Flight science unit for the sixth grade. The program included assisting classroom teachers in a discussion on wing design and how airfoils work, and students designed their own airfoil for lift using kits supplied by the VFS STEM Program (generously funded by Triumph Group Foundation), and helping students design, build, and test balsa wood gliders. The interactions with the students led to discussions about various engineering careers.
